Even though he was productive, Atlanta chose not to offer him the tender, which would have paid him around $2 million. The reports out of Atlanta said the Falcons were hoping to let him hit free agency and sign him for less. Instead, the Jets gave him a one-year, $3.5 million contract.

“I was surprised,” Poole said. “I really felt like we had something special going. We had a young core group of guys. We really felt we had it going in the right direction. Obviously, the guys upstairs felt a different way. It’s all a part of the game. It’s part of the business. I’m in New York, and I’m extremely happy to be here.”

The Jets have been hit hard by injuries at cornerback, but Poole has been in the lineup since he was cleared to practice in camp as the slot corner, a role that has gotten more important in recent years with the popularity of spread offenses.

Jets vs Falcons: The New York Jets (0-1), led by quarterback Sam Darnold and running back Le’Veon Bell, meet the Atlanta Falcons (0-2), led by quarterback The Atlanta Falcons battle the New York Jets in Week 8 of the 2017 NFL Season. Watch full games with NFL The Falcons will play their first game inside of Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Thursday, as they face the New York Jets in their third preseason The New York Jets were among the teams in the NFL who actually played their starting quarterback in their preseason opener. The Jets kicked off their preseason schedule against the New York Giants, with Sam Darnold starting under center.

The first drive for New York couldn’t have gone much better with Darnold completing four of his five passing attempts for 68 yards and a touchdown to cap it off. His day was over but Adam Gase had to be content with how things went for the second-year quarterback.

For Gase, he also realizes that he didn’t have Le’Veon Bell on the field with his starting offense yet. The huge question marks will be the play of Darnold and what the offensive line will look like during the regular season.

In their preseason opener, the Jets fell short against the Giants 31-22. Fortunately, the outcomes in the preseason don’t determine how you’ll perform when the regular season kicks off.

Now, in Week 2 of the preseason, we get to see more of the players who are competing for starting jobs or a spot on the 53-man roster. The Jets will take on the Atlanta Falcons in their second preseason game.

Here are three players to watch as the Jets face the Falcons this week.

Throughout this offseason, the Jets seemed to have an issue arise at the kicker position with Chandler Catanzaro hitting a rough patch in training camp. His struggles carried over into the Jets’ first preseason game where he made his only field-goal attempt but he missed two of his extra-point tries. Brian Poole has lined up opposite Matt Ryan and the Falcons offense plenty of times. But on Thursday night, the cornerback will be doing it wearing a different uniform for the first time.

Poole spent the past three seasons playing for the Falcons and went head-to-head with Ryan and the Atlanta receivers every day in practice. The Falcons chose not to tender Poole as a restricted free agent this offseason, though, and the Jets grabbed him to replace Buster Skrine as their slot corner. On Thursday, Poole returns to Atlanta in green and white.

“I’m definitely going to be excited to see a lot of the guys I’ve been going to battle with the last couple of years,” Poole said this week. “Some are lifelong friends. It’s definitely a group of guys I won a lot of games with and there’s a relationship there, so I’m excited to see my guys.”

It is just a preseason game so the intensity won’t be as high as it could be if this were a meeting in the regular season. Poole started 21 of 47 games for the Falcons, including nine in 2018, after signing with the team in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of Florida. He had three interceptions last year, 71 tackles, two fumble recoveries and three sacks.

In week two of the preseason we get to see a little more action from the starters. This means that someone like Kirk Cousins could get an extra series or two. Obviously, the Falcons will be extremely cautious in trying to avoid injury.

This game will be available on the NFL Network (TV) and the NFL Gamepass. You can also stream the game through a TV provider like DirecTV by logging in on the NFL’s main website. However, the Gamepass might be the most reliable streaming option, as it often has bugs. FuboTV also has every NFL preseason game with a free trial.
One big thing to watch this weekend is the Jets wide receiver rotation. They seem to still be working out the depth chart with at least one starting spot up for grabs. Marqise Lee seems save as one starter with the competition coming in the slot and the other outside spot.

Keelan Cole should have an inside track as he was the team’s best receiver late last season. He’s someone with big-play ability while also capable of working the underneath routes.

DeDe Westbrook has drawn positive reviews during training camp and is someone who could work well out of the slot. Rookie D.J. Chark’s speed is something that can’t be matched by the other receivers on the roster. Falcons will absolutely want to take advantage of his skill set.

The Jets are in Minneapolis, Minnesota right now and are about to start Day 1 of joint practices against the Falcons.

The Jets will join their fellow we-were-one-game-away comJets ahead of a Week 4 preseason matchup. The practice starts late (3:45 PM what?) but that’s good for those of us who get all our work in for the morning and can watch the practice unfold via tweets, videos, and live analysis.

Redskins vs. Bengals Preseason Week 2: Time, TV channel, live stream, how to watch

Washington will have the chance to bounce back on Thursday, as the Cincinnati Bengals travel to FedExField. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

With three preseason games remaining, the Redskins still have plenty to figure out before the regular season. Who their starting quarterback will be for Week 1 remains the biggest unknown.

After missing the preseason opener, will quarterback Colt McCoy play against the Bengals? Will Case Keenum build off a solid showing last week? How will Dwayne Haskins bounce back from his up and down debut?

Questions about the offensive line remain. Will Trent Williams return? Will Donald Penn and Wes Martin play with the starting unit?

Thursday’s clash with Cincinnati will be the next opportunity the Redskins have to answer these questions. NBC Sports Washington will be here to guide you through.

Redskins’ Case Keenum and Dwayne Haskins get another chance to impress against Bengals

Redskins Coach Jay Gruden seems to be closing in on picking a starting quarterback. And with veteran Colt McCoy being held out for the second straight week, the pressure is on Case Keenum and rookie first-round draft pick Dwayne Haskins to impress in Thursday’s exhibition against the Cincinnati Bengals in Landover.

Keenum started last week’s preseason opener at Cleveland, completing 4 of 9 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown before giving way to Haskins. The former Ohio State star, the 15th overall pick in this year’s draft, made some nice throws, but he also threw a pair of interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown. Most of Washington’s projected starters didn’t play against the Browns, but Gruden suggested at practice this week that a few more familiar names could see the field on Thursday night.

Pass rusher Montez Sweat, the Redskins’ second first-round pick, is expected to make his preseason debut against the Bengals, while second-year running back Derrius Guice will not play. The left side of the Redskins’ offensive line, which remains without holdout Trent Williams, was shaky against Cleveland and will be an area to monitor once again.

The Bengals are coming off a 6-10 season, which led to the firing of Coach Marvin Lewis after 16 seasons. Former Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor replaced Lewis; Taylor lost his preseason coaching debut, as Cincinnati allowed 400 yards in a 38-17 loss to Kansas City.

The Redskins are still refusing to budge in Trent Williams standoff

As the Pro Bowl left tackle’s preseason holdout continues, rumors and media speculation continue to circulate about whether Washington will trade its star left tackle, who is said to no longer wish to remain with the team. While one high-ranking NFL team decision-maker estimated the Redskins might be able to fetch a second-round draft pick for Williams, the team continues to wait it out, hoping he will return. Adrian Peterson addresses Trent Williams’s absence, endorses Colt McCoy

Peterson doesn’t know if or when his good friend Williams will return and said McCoy has the edge in the quarterback competition “because he has the knowledge and the ability as well.” (Read more)

Healthy again, Robert Davis is forcing his way back into receiver discussion

Davis was competing for a spot on the roster last preseason when he suffered a devastating knee injury in practice. “I definitely had doubts that I would be able to play again and, if I did, would I be the same player,” Davis said. Davis is back and in the running to make the team after a strong preseason debut. (Read more)

Jaguars vs Eagles

Another week of preseason football! The Eagles are playing the Jaguars on Thursday night. Who’s excited?!

Click here TO watch Live Stream

Well, if not, I can’t blame you. The entertainment value in these games isn’t very high to begin with and it’s only worse with the Eagles (likely) not playing their starters. We’re not going to get that Carson Wentz versus Nick Foles “battle” we thought we might see when the preseason schedule first came out. That’s too bad.

We’re not even going to get some Nate Sudfeld action since the Eagles’ backup quarterback is hurt. I think we can all admit that Sudfeld was at least watchable. Can you really say the same for Cody Kessler — who will be “starting” against his former team this week — and Clayton Thorson? They’ve yet to prove they can even run a coherent drive on this team.

So, there’s a part of me that’s dreading this game on Thursday night. But there’s also a sick part of me that enjoys any kind of Eagles football I can get, no matter how bad it might be. I can’t not watch it. I suspect I’m not alone in this regard.

Here’s hoping the game will be enjoyable as it possibly can be. There are a number of players worth watching as they try to earn playing time and/or jobs on the 53-man roster. At least there’s that.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the game.

With starting quarterback Carson Wentz on the sideline — in the interest of preserving him for the regular season — the Eagles lost to the Titans 27-10 in their preseason debut.

Nate Sudfeld got the start under center, but after going 10-of-18 for 177 yards and a touchdown, the right-handed quarterback exited with a broken left wrist, an injury sustained on a hit by Titans defensive tackle Isaiah Ford.

“Obviously, we’re grateful that he got the time he got in the game the other night,” head coach Doug Pederson said Saturday, according to PhiladelphiaEagles.com. “I thought he did some great things, showed great poise, made some great throws. There were a few things that we saw on film that we will be able to coach him up this afternoon when we watch the tape with the players. Felt good. It is unfortunate that he got injured. Going to miss the rest of training camp, obviously. But this is a great opportunity for both Cody [Kessler] and Clayton [Thorson] to really embrace now the opportunity they have in front of them.”

“I feel great,” he said, per PhiladelphiaEagles.com. “Surgery went great yesterday. I’m really thankful for the service and that they did such a good job and that they got me in so fast. As far as timetable, I’m trying to get back as soon as I can, but I’ve never broken a bone before so I’m trying to listen to the doctors and hopefully be back really soon.”

Kessler, entering his fourth NFL season, has 12 starts and five relief appearances under his belt, completing 224 of 349 passes (64.2 percent) for 2,215 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions. The Eagles drafted Thorson in the fifth round of this year’s draft.

The Jaguars fell 29-0 to the Baltimore Ravens in their preseason opener.

The team kept newly signed quarterback Nick Foles on the sideline, leaving the snaps to 2019 sixth-round pick Gardner Minshew and 2018 draftees Alex McGough and Tanner Lee.

The trio took four sacks and went 10-of-25 for 44 yards.

Head coach Doug Marrone was encouraged by the performance of second-year pro Taven Bryan, a defensive tackle selected in the first round in 2018.

“He did a nice job of getting off the ball,” Marrone said, according to Jaguars.com. “He did a good job of getting off blocks. He was in the backfield. It was really exciting and real improvement that we’ve been pushing, pushing, pushing and now you can see it.”

Bryan made one start last season and appeared in all 16 Jaguars games, registering three tackles for loss and a sack.

“We are hungry as coaches,” Marrone said, per Jaguars.com. “He’s hungry as a player because we really feel we can take another step this week, take another step next week and now all of a sudden, we have a guy that is going to be making plays for us on Sunday. That was exciting.”
